When I got my new Windows 10 PC, I was looking for a screen recorder to make product videos for client support. After testing a few, I ended up using Aissesoft Screen Recorder. It's super easy to use, lets me record with shortcuts, capture audio, and even edit the videos.
It does everything I need without any fuss. Highly recommend it!

In fact, the Xbox Game Bar that comes with Windows 10 is the most convenient best screen recorder for PC that I think is especially suitable for simple screen recording. You can open it by pressing Win + G, select the record button, or just press Win + Alt + R to start recording. It can record screen and audio input. Although it cannot edit videos, it is definitely enough if you just need to record quickly!
However, Xbox Game Bar also has some shortcomings. For example, it does not have built-in video editing functions. If you need to edit or add special effects, you have to use other software. In addition, it does not support recording specific windows. It can only record the entire screen or active window, which is a little simple in terms of function. For complex recording needs, you may have to consider other best screen recorders for PC, such as OBS.

ShareX is a super lightweight and feature-rich screen recorder for Windows 10 PC that's completely free and open-source. It supports various formats, including video and image capture, and even allows you to record with audio input. The customizable hotkeys are a big plus, and you can even edit your captures using basic editing features. The user interface can be a bit of a learning curve for beginners. I mean, I'm not exactly tech-savvy, but I was still able to figure it out after a few minutes of tinkering. However, if you're new to screen recording, you might find it a bit overwhelming.
For example, when I first opened ShareX, I was bombarded with a bunch of options and settings. It took me a few minutes to realize that I needed to create a new capture session by clicking on the "Capture" button. And don't even get me started on the hotkeys – it took me a few tries to get the hang of them. - NylaamCopper ContributorWhat is the best screen recorder for Windows 10 computer? For an all-around, powerful option, go for OBS Studio if you're willing to invest a bit of time learning how to use it effectively. If you want something very straightforward, try Xbox Game Bar or FlashBack Express which are easier for beginners. If you need advanced features while still keeping it lightweight, ShareX is an excellent choice.

Using the Xbox Game Bar as a screen recorder on Windows 10 isn't all sunshine and rainbows, and I can definitely share some downsides based on my experience. The quality of the recorded video can sometimes be a mixed bag too. While it generally works well, I've noticed that it can lag or skip frames if your computer is chugging along with other tasks. If you're trying to grab a smooth gameplay moment or a tutorial, those hiccups can be a real drain on the experience.
Another thing to consider is that the editing options are practically nonexistent. Once you've captured your video, you're pretty much stuck with it. No fancy trimming or doodling on the video unless you hop into a separate editing program. And let's be real, who wants to juggle multiple apps when you can just get everything done in one place? - JasonnmizIron Contributor
Lauranns There are a couple of things you should note when you are going to record screen on a Windows 10 PC.
First, Xbox Game Bar only works with specific apps and windows. It cannot record the File Explorer, desktop, or system-wide activities. This limitation can be frustrating if you need to capture more than just apps and games.
In addition, it doesn’t support recording the full screen when switching between different windows or apps. You can only record a single app at a time, limiting its versatility for tutorials or walkthroughs that involve multiple apps.
For your case, you'd better looking for some advanced screen recorder for Windows 10 based on the facts listed above!

Jasonnmiz Screen recording features not available with the default screen recorder app on Windows 10:
No Pause function: There is no option to pause and resume recordings. Once you start recording, you have to either stop or redo the entire recording if you need to pause.
Don't support video editing: Xbox Game Bar lacks built-in editing tools. If you need to trim, cut, or add annotations, you'll have to use external video editing software to make any post-production edits.
No Webcam or Audio Customization: While it records system audio, there is no direct way to customize audio settings, and it doesn’t natively support webcam overlays, which is a common feature in more advanced screen recorders.
If you want to record screen with audio on Windows 10, please consider other screen recorder software instead.

Cons: The user interface may not be as user-friendly for beginners.ShareX is indeed a good choice, especially as a free and open source screen recorder for Windows 10. It supports audio input, customizable shortcut keys, and some basic editing functions, which is quite full-featured.
However, to be honest, the interface of ShareX is not very friendly to beginners. When I first used it, I was a little confused. The menu looked complicated and there were so many functions that it was hard to know where to start. It takes some time to explore, especially if you just want to record the screen quickly. The advantage is that it is very lightweight and feature-rich, but the disadvantage is that the interface is not intuitive enough, especially for beginners.
