System slows down over Timeon Windows 10
Over time, my Windows 10 system gradually slows down, experiencing longer load times, laggy performance, and delayed response when opening applications or navigating through files. Despite restarting and running basic maintenance, the slowdown persists, making it difficult to perform everyday tasks efficiently and affecting overall productivity. I am looking for advice on how to diagnose the cause of this gradual performance decline and actionable steps to improve system speed, whether through software optimization, cleaning up unnecessary files, or hardware checks. Any suggestions or troubleshooting tips to restore my system’s responsiveness would be greatly appreciated.

I’d watch Task Manager after the PC has been running for a while, especially CPU, Memory, Disk, and Startup apps. If memory keeps climbing and never settles, that can point to a leaking app or driver.
Also check free disk space, Storage Sense/temp files, disk health, and what is running in the background. A clean boot is a good next step because it lets you start Windows with non-Microsoft startup items disabled and see whether the slowdown still comes back.
