Check specific warnings in Windows Security > Virus threat protection > Protection history. If it's a virus, you can unblock it by allowing the threat or adding an exclusion.

Thx for your answer. the problem ist not realted to specific executables. If you copy an exe file which starts w/o problems from another location to the "U" drive, you get the security warning. BTW, we are not using Defender anyway. When you allow the execution of files w/o question in the "Internet" zone in the IE security settings, the file starts al right w/o any qestion or problems. Somehow windows thinks dirve "U" belongs to the Internet Zone, no matter if it is a local drive or mapped network share
