Sound Randomly Switches Output Devices or Goes Mute
For the past few weeks, my Windows PC has been randomly switching audio output devices on its own, often jumping from my speakers to my headphones or even to a completely disconnected monitor, and sometimes the audio just goes completely mute without any warning or error message. I've already tried updating my audio drivers, disabling exclusive mode, and checking the default device settings, but nothing seems to stop these random switches, so I'm hoping someone here has a fix for this frustrating issue.

Hi Munasian, I would disable any playback devices Windows should not choose, especially monitor audio, old Bluetooth devices, and virtual audio devices. If it still switches, look for a device reconnect from a dock, HDMI monitor, or USB headset. Also check Teams, Zoom, Discord, and vendor audio apps for their own output setting.
