Software silent after Windows wake from sleep mode
After waking the computer from sleep mode, all software is silent, but system alerts are audible. The computer must be restarted to restore software sound. Reinstalling the sound card driver did not resolve the issue.

Disable the USB selective suspend setting under Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings, and update the sound card/motherboard chipset drivers.
