Random Appearance of Strange Video Artifacts
I am currently using Windows 11 version 23H2 build 22631.2792 and I have noticed a strange video issue occurring (please refer to the attached video).
Intermittently, a quick flash appears on the screen and then disappears. This seems to be triggered by mouse movement, whether I am using a Bluetooth or USB mouse. Sometimes the flash only lasts for a moment or two, while other times it persists. This problem mainly occurs when I have a web browser open along with the Everquest game client, but it has also been observed with some other applications.
Here are the steps I have taken to address this issue so far:
- Disabled all non-essential startup programs
- Conducted a clean installation of the NVIDIA driver
- Ensured all Windows updates are up to date
- Despite attempting to close all applications and background tasks one by one after the issue occurs, it does not consistently resolve
- This issue is specific to one of my two home-built machines
I have monitored the temperature and found that heat is not likely the cause of the issue, as the system temperature remains in the mid-50s on idle and has peaked at 68, well below the GPU throttling limit of 85.
Typically, the problem is resolved by a simple reboot, and a cold start always clears it, at least temporarily. Sometimes, the issue may take an hour or more to reappear, while other times it occurs immediately. I am currently seeking any insights or suggestions to address this persistent problem.
- OstarariCopper ContributorIf the issue persists despite trying these steps, consider reaching out to NVIDIA support or your GPU manufacturer for additional diagnostics and support.
- AlanasiCopper ContributorSince you're using two separate machines, it's possible that there's a conflict between the graphics cards in your system. Try disabling the graphics card on your other machine (if you're using a laptop or desktop with multiple graphics cards) to see if the issue persists.
