Sep 23, 2023Thanks for sharing the issue,
Yea, it will give the same options to "upgrade this pc" and "keep files"!

Does anyone still have the link to update windows 10 over currently running window 7?
- tech_J234Dec 22, 2023Copper ContributorI believe the steps that worked for me are:
Go to the link in the OP.
Select "Create Windows 10 installation media" > Download.
Then choose the options for installing over Windows 7 keeping all apps and data.
In my case, I did not need to give it a new license key/code. Worked fine on three machines (two desktops and one laptop). Those machines had been purchased from HP with Windows 7 installed if I remember correctly.
If it works, remember to do Check for Updates a lot of times and let it update over and over.
Also run some kind of dedicated check for driver and maybe BIOS updates for your machine if you have one.
Good luck!- tech_J234Jun 19, 2024Copper ContributorOr "Opening Post". Same thing. It means the first post (or poster) in the thread.
- tech_J234Dec 22, 2023Copper ContributorNote that I believe I did it without creating any kind of installation media -- I let it run in real-time.

Note that, as I explained earlier in this thread, installing 10 over 7 is called Upgrade, not Update.
