No win 10 product key
Hi I have a legitamate key for windows 7 pro and I wanted to upgrade my pc to windows 10, but the upgrade failed. I installed a new harddrive and did a clean install with windows 10 and ran it from USB. It was successful but I don't have a windows 10 key. Normally an upgrade will result in a digital key being assigned. But because there is no key windows 10 is not activated and I have an error code 0xC004F213 and a message saying a key was not found on your device. Do I have to purchase one. Or can I use the windows 7 key, will that work.

I believe you need to buy new key for your Windows 10. Microsoft officially ended Windows 10 free upgrade offer back in year 2016. Read details here:

In Internet, you may find different articles claiming the Windows 7 to 10 free upgrade still works. But there is no official Microsoft source available right now that confirms free upgrade still works and is legal process to get Windows 10.
