network misconfigurations on Windows PC
My Windows computer has encountered a network issue, and I suspect it is due to improper network settings or configuration. My network connection is unstable. Even after restarting the computer and checking the basic settings, some network functions still cannot be used normally. I would like to know how to identify possible network configuration errors, reset necessary settings, and investigate whether the problem is caused by the Windows system, drivers, or network hardware.

Your connection is unstable despite a restart, so first separate an incorrect Windows configuration from a driver, router, or physical-link problem. Run ipconfig /all and confirm the adapter has the expected DHCP address, gateway, and DNS servers rather than an APIPA address. Test the gateway, then an external IP, and finally a DNS name to identify where communication stops. Check whether another device works on the same network and, for Ethernet, try another cable and router port. Install Windows updates and applicable optional driver updates, then install the supported network driver from the computer or adapter manufacturer. If the problem began after a driver update, roll it back; otherwise uninstall the adapter in Device Manager and restart. Use Network Reset only after recording VPN, virtual-switch, and static-IP settings because it reinstalls adapters and removes custom configuration. If the failures follow this computer onto another network, investigate the adapter hardware.
