Need some help to convert mpeg to mp4 so I can play them on my car

I just copied dozens of mpeg (I thought it is mpeg-1) videos form my VCDs. Unfortunately, my car system can't play mpeg videos by default as it says this video format is not supported.

    Before converting dozens of videos, I’d convert just one file first and test it in your car. You can do this with a video converter such as HandBrake (free and open source). Choose MP4 as the output format and H.264 for the video codec.

    Some car systems also have additional limitations, such as:

    • Maximum resolution (for example, 720p or 1080p)
    • Supported frame rates
    • FAT32 or exFAT USB drives only
    • MP4 with H.264 video (HEVC/H.265 may not be be supported)

    Since the videos came from VCDs, there’s no benefit in increasing the resolution during conversion. Keeping the original resolution will preserve the quality while avoiding unnecessarily large files.
