Left-Click on the Volume Icon in the Windows 10 Taskbar Notification Area Has No Response
When clicking the volume icon in the lower-right corner of the taskbar, a left-click has no response, and the volume control panel does not pop up; however, a right-click opens the menu (including the Volume Mixer) normally. Restarting File Explorer provides a temporary fix, but the problem reoccurs.

Hi — because right-click works and restarting Explorer helps temporarily, this looks like a shell/flyout problem rather than failed audio hardware.
Restart Windows Explorer, then restart the Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder services. Install the current supported Windows update and the PC maker’s audio driver. If you use taskbar customizers, Start-menu replacements, or overlay utilities, disable them for a clean-boot test.
If the flyout still fails, run `DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth` and then `sfc /scannow`. Testing a new local user is useful too: if the icon works there, the damaged state is in the original profile. Since Windows 10 is out of standard support, make sure the PC is covered by ESU while you troubleshoot.
