Laptop Keyboard Layout Changes Randomly Without User Action
My laptop keyboard layout keeps switching randomly on its own without me pressing any shortcut or changing any settings. It happens during normal typing, and I have to manually switch it back each time, which is disrupting my work and I cannot figure out why it keeps happening.

This can happen if a keyboard shortcut is switching between installed layouts, especially Alt+Shift or Win+Space. I’d check the language settings and remove any layouts you don’t actually use. If it still changes randomly, disabling the input-switching shortcuts is worth trying.

Two things commonly cause this: an accidentally triggered layout shortcut, or Windows remembering a different input method for each app.
On Windows 11, go to Settings > Time & language > Typing > Advanced keyboard settings. Choose your preferred input method under Override for default input method, then uncheck Let me use a different input method for each app window. This helps if the layout changes when you move between apps.
On the same page, open Input language hot keys. Select Between input languages > Change Key Sequence and set both shortcuts to Not Assigned. That disables the older Alt + Shift / Ctrl + Shift switching shortcuts, but not Win + Space.
If you only need one layout, the simplest fix is to remove the others under Settings > Time & language > Language & region > your language’s … menu > Language options > Keyboards. Keep the layout that matches your keyboard. With no alternative layouts installed, there’s nothing for Windows to switch to.
