Is my computer broken, or am I just using it incorrectly?

My computer keeps waking up from sleep on its own, and the volume drops whenever another app plays audio. I've tried the usual fixes like disabling wake timers and adjusting communication settings, but nothing works. Is my computer broken, or am I just using it incorrectly?

Your computer isn't broken, and you're not using it incorrectly. These are two separate Windows behaviors that often confuse people, and both have specific settings that can override the usual fixes you've already tried.

Any network packet from another device on your LAN (like a router heartbeat ping) can be interpreted by the network card as a wake signal. This setting lives in Device Manager, not Power Options.

If your RAM was loose and you're still having crashes, your PC might be failing to enter a proper low-power state. When Windows can't save its data to RAM correctly, it can wake up as a side effect of the system trying to recover or reload damaged memory contents.

You should not use this way.😀
