Is it safe to end the search app running in background?
I noticed something odd yesterday. The "search" app was running in the background even after I finished my virus scan. I ended the task, but it popped back up in the task manager almost immediately. ...

The "Search" app is tied to Windows Search, running in the background for quick file searches and Start Menu results. That’s why it restarts automatically after you end it.
If it’s using too many resources:
- Adjust search indexing in "Settings" under "Searching Windows."
- Restart the Windows Search service via the Services app.
- Run another virus scan with a different tool like Malwarebytes to rule out malware.
Usually, it’s not a big deal unless it’s causing slowdowns!

The "Search" app is part of the Windows operating system and is responsible for the indexing and searching of files, applications, and settings on your PC. It provides functionality such as search in the Start menu and file explorer.
