How to transfer contacts from iPhone to iPhone without Apple ID?
AirDrop is Apple's built-in wireless sharing feature that lets you transfer files, photos, and contacts between Apple devices quickly and without needing an internet connection. It works by combining Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to create a direct link between two devices, making it one of the fastest and most private ways to move contacts from one iPhone to another.
Before you start transferring contacts from iPhone to new iPhone, make sure both iPhones have:
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on (AirDrop uses both)
- AirDrop set to "Everyone" or "Contacts Only": Settings → General → AirDrop → Everyone (for 10 minutes)
How to transfer contacts from iphone to iphone without iCloud
1. Open the Contacts app on the old iPhone
2. Tap any contact → scroll down → tap "Share Contact"
Unfortunately, iOS doesn't have a native "select all + AirDrop" option, so this works one contact at a time.
If the other iPhone doesn't show up:
- Make sure both phones are within 30 feet of each other
- Check that the receiving phone is unlocked
- Toggle Airplane mode on/off to reset connections
- Double-check AirDrop isn't set to "Receiving Off"
The vCard workaround is the most practical way to move your entire contact list in one shot via AirDrop.
