How to suppress display of .url on internet shortcuts

Hi,

I had erroneously turned off IE 11 in the "Turning Windows Features ON or OFF" settings. This was easily corrected. But unfortunately, all the internet shortcuts now display their affix .url. This is purely cosmetic problem, but rather annoying.

 

I have not found any source how to fix that. A certain registry value will surely do the trick. But which one?

Any tip is highly appreciated.

    In the Properties window, click on the Change button next to the File type field.

    Uncheck the option to hide file extensions for known file types, then tick it again to refresh the display

    In File Explorer, click View > Options > View, uncheck Hide extensions for known file types, click OK, and then recheck the option to refresh the display.
