How to make an image transparent in Windows by removing background
You can turn a picture into a transparent image in PowerPoint.
Photoshop is best for complex edits, PowerPoint has built-in tools to make parts of an image transparent. This is very useful for removing a solid background (like a white box behind a logo) or fading an image into your slide design.
How to turn a picture into a transparent image
Step 1: Select the image in your slide.
Step 2: Go to the Picture Format tab (this appears only when an image is selected).
Step 3: Click Remove Background (far left of the ribbon).
Step 4: PowerPoint will turn the background purple (this indicates the area to be removed).
Step 5: Use Mark Areas to Keep (for parts wrongly marked for removal, like part of a person's hair).
Step 6: Use Mark Areas to Remove (for parts not fully purple, like a shadow you want to erase).
Step 7: Click Keep Changes outside the image. The background is now transparent.
Quick Summary
Remove Background = Automatic subject selection (best for most cases).
Transparency slider = Fades the whole image.
Set Transparent Color = Erases one specific color only.
