How to factory reset windows 10 without password to new owner?
If you can't access the login screen or the Shift+Restart method doesn't work, you can force Windows 10 into its Recovery Environment by interrupting the boot process. This triggers a built-in failsafe that Windows activates when it detects repeated startup failures, giving you access to reset options without needing a password.
How to factory reset windows 10 without password
1. Make sure your PC is completely powered off — hold the power button for 10 seconds if needed.
2. Press the power button to start the PC.
3. As soon as you see the Windows logo or spinning dots, hold the power button for 5–10 seconds to force it off.
4. Repeat this 3 times — on the 3rd restart, Windows will automatically launch the Recovery Environment instead of booting normally.
4. You'll see a screen that says "Preparing Automatic Repair" — let it load When the recovery menu appears, click Advanced options Go to Troubleshoot → Reset this PC.
Things to keep in mind:
This Windows 10 factory reset method works even if Windows is corrupted or won't boot normally
If the Recovery Environment doesn't appear after 3 forced shutdowns, try a 4th time
Make sure the PC is plugged into power before starting — losing power mid-reset can cause serious issues
Once complete, the new owner will be greeted with the standard Windows 10 first-time setup screen
