If you still want to use virtual desktops but avoid accidental switches during gameplay, you might want to check out Desktop Switcher. Instead of relying on keyboard shortcuts, it lets you switch desktops with your mouse (move to the bottom of screen and scroll). This way, you can keep virtual desktops enabled for productivity but won't accidentally trigger them during gaming. Available on GitHub at pmb6tz/windows-desktop-switcher.
