For uninstalled software, you can manually search for its name in the Registry Editor to clean up residual files. However, this method carries greater risk, so you must back up the registry before proceeding.
How to clear registry in Windows 10 :
- Press Win + R to open the Run dialog, type regedit, then press Enter.
- Click File → Export in the top-left corner. Under Export range, select All, name the backup file, and save it to a secure location.
- Click Edit → Find, then enter the name of the uninstalled software.
- Uncheck Value and Data, leaving only Key selected. Click Find Next.
- Locate keys clearly belonging to the uninstalled software. Right-click and select Delete, removing only keys named after that software.
- Press F3 to continue searching for the next residual key.
Note: Registry entries from major developers like Microsoft or Adobe should only be deleted after 100% confirmation they are associated with the uninstalled software.
