How do I extend C drive in Windows 10 PC without formatting?
Before you can extend the C drive in Windows 10 without formatting, you need to check if there’s unallocated space available adjacent to it (usually this would be on the right side of the C drive in Disk Management). This can be achieved through:
1. Right-click on the Start menu and select Disk Management. In the Disk Management window, look for the C drive and check for any unallocated space.
2. If there is no unallocated space available directly adjacent to the C drive, you may need to free up space. If you have another partition (like D:, E:, etc.) and want to shrink it to create unallocated space, you can do this:
- Right-click on the partition you want to shrink and select Shrink Volume.
- Follow the prompts to free up space.
3. Once you have unallocated space, right-click on the C drive and select Extend Volume. The Extend Volume Wizard will open. Click Next to proceed, select the amount of space you want to add to the C drive, or use the default maximum available space. And click Next, then Finish.
4. If you cannot click on the Extend Volume option, it usually means that the unallocated space is not directly next to the C drive. In this case, you can use third-party partition management software.
