How do I download an entire album from Apple Music?
About downloading an entire album from Apple Music. Apple Music is a streaming service with downloads for offline listening only while you maintain an active subscription. Downloaded songs are encrypted and can only be played within the Apple Music app. They cannot be converted to MP3 or other standard audio files for use outside the app.
That said, here's how to legally download an entire albums from Apple Music for offline listening:
1. Make sure you have an Apple Music subscription (not just an Apple ID)
2. In the Apple Music app on Windows:
- Find the album you want
- Click the "+ Add" button to add it to your library
- Once added, you should see a cloud download icon (cloud with arrow) next to each song
- Click that icon to download individual tracks, or...
- Look for a "Download" button near the top of the album page
- You can also right-click the album and select "Download"
For your educational project, consider these legal alternatives:
1. Apple Digital Master purchases - Buy the album from iTunes Store (these are DRM-free files you can actually use)
2. Educational discounts - Many platforms offer student discounts
3. Free music resources for education:
- Free Music Archive
- Internet Archive's audio collection
- YouTube Audio Library (free for creative projects)
- Your school/library may have digital music resources
4. Check if your course qualifies for "educational use" under fair use provisions in copyright law, which might allow limited use of copyrighted material for educational purposes.
