How do I convert HEIC files to JPEGs in Windows?
- Apr 02, 2026
Ugh, HEIC files, the bane of every Windows user's existence. 😅 I spent way too long trying to get Windows Photos to open them, then gave up.
What finally worked for me: TunessBro HEIC Converter. Super simple: drag, drop, convert to JPEG, done. You can even batch convert whole folders, which saved me when I had like 500 HEIC images from a trip.
I used to use Microsoft Photos to convert HEIC pictures one at a time, but recently I came across a HEIC Converter app in the Microsoft Store. It's handy for converting and editing images.
If your photos are still in iCloud, you can also download JPEG copies using Most Compatible. To avoid the same hassle with future photos, set your iPhone to Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible—new photos will save as JPEG, though existing HEIC files won’t change.
