How can I update my laptop to 1909 from 1809?
I have an outdated PC that's been serving me well for a while now, but I'm starting to experience some issues. When I try to update the operating system, I'm getting a message saying that it's too outdated to proceed with the installation of Windows 10 version 1909.
The question is, would using a generic or product key have any positive impact on this situation? Or do I really need to consider upgrading to a more modern PC as it's recommending? I'd appreciate any insight, as I'm fairly new to PC maintenance and don't want to make things worse.

The latest version is 22H2. For security consideration, you should install the latest version.

You need to download the 1809 Windows 10 ISO and reinstall Windows 10 from the bootable USB.

The fundamental issue is that you're trying to jump from Windows 10 version 1809 directly to 1909, which is several years behind the current versions. Microsoft's update process usually involves incremental upgrades, meaning you generally need to install updates sequentially or at least be within a certain range of supported versions. While Microsoft did offer a "servicing stack update" to allow unsupported versions of windows 10 (Including 1809) to upgrade to windows 10 version 2004, this is a stopgap solution that is no longer applicable as of 2020.
