Microsoft Print to PDF + is a native feature built into Windows that allows you to split a PDF file into individual pages free; this workaround, which requires no installation, is a convenient system-level solution.
How to Split a PDF file into individual pages free
- Open the target PDF file using Microsoft Edge, which comes preinstalled with Windows 10.
- Press the Ctrl + P shortcut to open the print dialog box.
- Select Microsoft Print to PDF from the printer list.
- Enter the page number of the page you want to extract in the page number field.
- Click Print and save that page as a new, separate PDF file.
- Repeat the above steps for each page you want to separate.
Disadvantages
- The process is entirely manual, and pages must be exported one by one.
- It is inefficient when splitting multi-page PDF files with a large number of pages.
- There is no batch splitting feature, so it is not possible to split all pages at once.
All operations rely on Windows' built-in tools, but you must export pages manually, one by one. If you need to split dozens of pages, this can be time-consuming.
ps
- When printing a single page, make sure to select only one page number for each print job.
- This method is only suitable for splitting a small number of PDF pages.
- Do not close Edge while printing, as this may result in an incomplete saved file.
