- Michael_SozaCopper ContributorHi Saura, I installed this app from the store https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9NHCL1XQWXF1 that does exactly what you need. It is quite handy and minimalistic

The Windows Desktop Helper provides a way to display a) the name of the virtual desktop while switching and b) the number of the Desktop in the task bar. Although the number is not the name, for me, this helped to be oriented.

Hello saurabhude,
AFAIK, there is no native way right now to see current virtual desktop name you're working on. Though you can drop a feedback on this, so this could be made possible via upcoming updates.
Good luck!

Thanks for your response.
It is not a alternative it is additional step to get answer.
I need to name on my taskbar at all the time.
- haardikCopper ContributorWould love to have this feature out of the box.
- riversofbeliefCopper ContributorBEST option is to update to Windows 11 and use custom desktop backgrounds for each desktop! Win+Tab, create new desktop. Win+Tab, right click on the mini-view of the desktop, and customize the background. Easy peasy.

Over half of PCs in use will never run win 11

Virtual Desktop Indicator by Ante Maric
Available on Microsoft Store under Mara Apps.
Absolutrly perfect and cheap.
I bought this and it is flawless in Win 10.

riversofbelief That is true unless you also use something like Lively desktop to manage your desktop backgrounds, as it is not sensitive to virtual desktops.
Also this is something that does belong on the task bar so that it is visible even when the screens are full of applications.
