How can I force to install Windows 11 on unsupported PC?
- Aug 29, 2025
Tried a couple of ways to get Windows 11 installed on my ThinkPad laptop (2014) but failed. If you don't want to waste time on this, then follow this guide instead:

It was shared by my friend and worked great for me!
If you need a simple solution to install windows 11 on an unsupported device without getting your hands dirty, please followed the steps shared in the best reply. It worked like charm for my old HP laptop.
P.S. I have wasted a couple of hours for trying different tricks shared online but no success. And don't use the Rufus software as it will damage the USB drive. I have very bad experience with it.
11 years ago it did? I'm guessing they've improved since then. And it isn't the only way to make a USB stick get into a bad state.
I've had to use diskpart and use some magic incantation (typed the odd looking commands I couldn't find help for) to clear away all partitions on a USB stick before. Wasn't from Rufus. Think it was a GPT partition back when those were rarer (versus older/standard MBR based).
