Have I been assigned to a temporary Windows profile, after applying 1903?

Over last weekend the Windows 10 May 2019 update (1903) was applied to my home desktop. Before 1903 was applied my profile was located at C:\Users\Rod. After 1903 was applied it is now located at C:\Users\Rod.000. I am a bit confused by that, but initially thought nothing of it.

However, I've been experiencing some problems with Outlook, with one account which I use POP3. I asked around and was told that my Windows profile has been assigned to a temporary profile. This really concerns me a LOT! If its temporary, how long will it remain temporary? Besides causing problems with POP3 and Dropbox on my machine, what else will it interfere with? Is there anything I should do to fix this temporary reassignment of my profile?

  • Make a safe copy of your profile from C:\Users Next go to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList and remove the entry for the profile. Reboot. Sign back in as a new user. Access the back up you made and copy everything over to the user folder just created. Reinstall applications as necessary, etc. It's a little bit of work, but this is the only way I could get rid of the 000 issue. S
