Graphics performance decreases after installing a newer driver
Your frame-rate drop and choppy animation begin with the new graphics driver, while rollback restores normal performance. That A/B result strongly indicates a driver regression or compatibility issue rather than a general Windows problem. Keep the stable driver for now, restart, and record both driver versions and dates from Device Manager. Check whether the newer package came from Windows Update, the GPU vendor, or the computer manufacturer. On a laptop or switchable-graphics system, prefer manufacturer-approved graphics and chipset packages because they are tested with its power and display configuration. Reproduce once only if needed, using the same game, resolution, power mode, and measurement. Save a DirectX diagnostic report and Reliability Monitor entry, then report the regression to the vendor or manufacturer. Do not repeatedly reinstall the failing version unless support requests a controlled retest or a newer corrected build becomes available.
