File Explorer Not Responding

I can open file explorer and click on certain files/folders but when I click on anything Microsoft related such as Word or Excel files, the system will not respond. If i select all from the top instead of clicking on one file (such as in Recycle Bin) it will not respond. I am coming to the conclusion this is a Microsoft issue vs a File Explorer/Windows issue. How do I fix this?
