Outlook is a straightforward method to export contacts from iphone to csv, suitable for users with a Microsoft account.
How to export contacts from iphone to csv
Step 1: On your iPhone
- Go to Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Account → Outlook, then enable contact syncing.
Step 2: On your computer
- Go to Outlook and sign in with your Microsoft account.
Step 3: Click the Contacts icon
- Click Manage → Export Contacts → Select CSV format.
- Download the CSV file directly. You now have a plain CSV file.
Finally
- You can now open the CSV file using any spreadsheet tool or import it into other apps or services that support the CSV contact format.
- If needed, you can also edit the CSV file directly in a text editor such as Notepad or VS Code.
This is a complete, no-extra-tools way to get your iPhone contacts as a clean CSV file.
Advantages
- Uses only official Microsoft services; no third-party tools are required.
- Exports directly to CSV format without any extra steps.
- As long as synchronization is enabled, contact information between your iPhone and Outlook will stay in sync.
- The generated CSV file is compatible with virtually all contact management and spreadsheet tools.
Disadvantages
- Cannot be used without an Outlook/Hotmail account.
- Contacts must first be synced to Outlook; contacts saved only locally will not be included.
- You cannot select specific contacts during export.
- If a contact exists in multiple accounts, duplicates may appear in the CSV file.
