Excessive Background Processes and Services, how to terminate?
My computer is running a large number of background processes and services, which seem to consume excessive system resources and slow down performance. I want to know how to identify unnecessary processes and safely terminate them without affecting essential system functions, in order to improve speed and responsiveness. Any guidance on how to manage or disable these background processes effectively would be greatly appreciated.

A high process count alone does not prove a problem; Windows and modern apps use multiple isolated processes. Focus on resource use instead of terminating items by name. Open Task Manager, sort Processes by CPU, Memory, Disk, and Network, and observe which entries remain high for minutes. Close only applications you recognize. Review Startup apps and disable nonessential third-party launchers, not Microsoft or security components. For supported Store apps, use Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Advanced options to restrict background activity. Uninstall software you no longer use and install Windows updates. If usage remains high, perform a clean boot by hiding all Microsoft services before disabling other services; re-enable them in groups until the culprit returns. Do not disable services or end critical Windows processes, because that can break networking, updates, sign-in, or security. Share the exact process name, publisher, and resource percentage if one item remains suspicious.
