Does your Windows 10 system also have such low memory usage?

My Windows 10 system has unusually low memory usage (for example, only about 1 GB of memory is used out of 8 GB). I'm not sure if this is normal or if there might be a potential system optimization issue.

The core Windows OS is quite efficient. If you are just sitting at the desktop with a few background apps running (e.g., a browser with a few tabs, an antivirus, Spotify), using 1-2 GB of active memory is completely normal.

Now, let's get the detailed breakdown:

In the bottom-left of the Task Manager window, click Open Resource Monitor.

In the Resource Monitor, go to the Memory tab.

Look at the detailed bar graph at the bottom. This is the true story of your RAM.

Windows 10 includes a very efficient memory management system called the Standby List.

Windows will pre-load applications and files you use frequently into the "standby" portion of your RAM. In your Task Manager, this is often shown as "Cached" memory.
