Do You Really Have to Stop Using Windows 10?
There is currently no reason to stop using Windows 10, but you do need to understand the risks and alternatives. Even though support for Windows 10 discontinued in October 2025. After that , there will be no more updates, security or otherwise. When you are on an unsupported OS, it puts you more at risk to malware and exploits, and you may also face app and hardware compatibility issues.
If, on the other hand, your system is patched and equipped with good security tools (like BitDefender or Windows Defender), there’s no harm in running Windows 10 for a while this is, of course, not a long-term solution. Gradually, programs and drivers alike will not support Windows 10, and you will encounter increasing limitations.
For security purposes, Microsoft has also offered a chance to extend security updates (ESU) for Windows 10 until October 2028 (for a fee) if you are not ready to move on to Windows 11 yet. This could be an option, especially if you want to keep some hardware intact.
