Cumulative update KB5001330 fails to install
Hello Everyone ! I am getting an error for installing update KB5001330 Windows 10 version 20H2. I have no idea how to fix the issue. I have troubleshooted windows update but it wasn't helpful. I have made 4 back to back attempts to install KB5001330 but failed every time. I am looking for your kind help. The latest update has the same issue we had been facing with KB5000842 in the last two weeks

Jauhar I also have this problem and have read most of the replys. As a long time computer user but definitely not a hacker, I know only one thing: if you don't understand the "fix," don't try it! Obviously, Microsoft knows all about this. It is solely their responsibility to rectify it without requiring users to practically reinstall the OS.
I recommend you do what I am doing: just ignore it!

JauharThere is a solution to this issue. I have had several Windows 10 updates on Patch Tuesdays that will not install. The solution is download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Run the installer to reinstall Windows 10 and apply the updates. This is basically just like doing an upgrade. This has worked for me every time this issue has come up. I just did it last night on one of my computers and it is now fully updated again.
- Ea5tham_Allc_urchCopper ContributorI tried 3 or 4 times to install this update without success. The error message was 0x80073712 on current build 20H2 19042.867 "some update files missing". Tried troubleshooter, DISM restore health etc, all to no avail. Eventually used to windows help link and a Microsoft agent guided me through the installation of a fresh Windows ISO which retained existing apps and files. This was late at night and I eventually went off to bed while the new ISO installed overnight. Next morning all was well and the offending update had installed. Since then no problems and all as it should be. First time I had used the Windows help support and was a bit dubious at first as the agent gets access to your computer to do the necessary tweaks. Must say though I was impressed and delighted to be up to date again although a bit p**d off that the integrity of these updates does not seem to be 100% before they are released.
- Gonz0oCopper ContributorI also came to such conclusions. KB 5000842 Update for me is not removable. And Microsoft has released the final second update with this number and this may be causing a problem with it.

Same issue.
"Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x8007000d):
- FaaiqcodeofconductCopper ContributorI'm also experiencing the same issue... In fact, I went crazy that are my drivers fine? Though I found out the update is unstable... Resulting in a poor result that I never even thought of... Microsoft, please bring a patch or some sort of update! I have online classes to attend!

Faaiqcodeofconduct I’m sorry to say that this version of Windows 10 is unusable and we’ve had to pull it in our organisation. Seems to work fine for a day and then becomes unresponsive the next. Staff spend more time fighting the computer then being productive. I’m hoping the light bulb will turn on in Redmond when take up rates fall. ( Using 20H2 reminds me of Windows Vista).
- Gonz0oCopper ContributorKB5000842 its update when Windows started died with my actualizations. I think it is problem with name Enterprise, because now this version not exist.
- JDC-BloggsCopper ContributorSame error build 20H2
- JDC-BloggsCopper ContributorKB5001330 is attempting to install on a windows10 build 20H2 machine and fails. Windows update keeps trying to install it.
- J_FlyerCopper ContributorI have the same problem. It Installs till 100% then a error message with error code 0x8007000d comes up.

Download 100%, after installing... Also be 100% but not complete with 0x800f0984 error code. I have 10 Enterprise with Insider Preview. In second laptop with PRO edition without Preview all actualizaion is OK. In the Enterprise edition, all updates installed without problems until I started the preview channel. The problem started with the KB5000842 update.

I have 3 laptops with Windows 10 Pro, all Dells:
- Latitude E7450 - no problem with update.
- Precision 7510 - no problem with update.
- Precision 5510 (my main workstation) - I tried all possible options and nothing worked for me.
I don't have any suspicious applications nor games installed, all my computers are very clean. I use Norton360, and all computers are virus and malware free.
Below is what I tried:
1) I downloaded from MS site the windows10.0-kb5001330-x64_48f2955cc5688bf56b32be1cca4cd1f02f1d36e2.msu file. It didn't work, the same result as when I used the standard "Windows Updates". I'm found in OS logs message: "Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8007000D: 2021-04 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5001330)."
2) I downloaded from MS windows the
10.0-kb5001330-x64_d026afc35d0bd37f9580bd0865841d1d8607ac8d.cab update file, and proceeded using "dism /online /add-package /packagepath:.\10.0-kb5001330-x64_d026afc35d0bd37f9580bd0865841d1d8607ac8d.cab" from terminal window as administrator.
The same result as in #1.
3) Checked images using DISM and SFC
a) SFC /scannow
b) DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
This step reporter that the image can be repaired.
Note: After cleaning and (step 3c and 3d) and next update retry I'm getting "the image can be repaired."
c) DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
d) DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealthe) DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
Everything looks clean.
4) Repeated steps 1 - 3 twice...
On Monday and Thursday I spend more than 4 hours of my time, it's ridiculous that vendor of commercial grade operating system doesn't have solution...
I'm not planning to spend more time on it, but if somebody would find an "silver bullet", please let me know.
Thanks.

try the above link and manually install the updates
- MarkOlberdCopper Contributor
I already tried, and I mentioned about it in #1 and #2 in my initial post.
In summary what I tried:
1. From "Windows Updates" - Didn't work.
2. Downloaded the ".MSU" file and tried to install - Didn't work.
3. Downloaded the ".CAB" file and tried to install - Didn't work.
BTW, I give for now, just in case I disabled updated in Windows for 30 days. Many people had problems after the update. I will wait to time when MS will clarify the issue and come with new patch/solution.

I hope MS will fix this buggy update in the coming days
- zcomtechCopper ContributorOpen windows service console using services.msc
look for windows update service right click select restart.
Type troubleshoot on start menu search, select troubleshoot settings,
Click on additional troubleshooter, select windows update and click run the troubleshooter.
Reboot windows once the diagnose completes and check for updates again.- PhatControllerCopper ContributorThis worked for me 👌

Windows 10 Pro, 20H2, 19042.906, Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0, 32-bit O/S:
I restarted the update service, ran the troubleshooter and rebooted. Update KB5001330 continues to fail with error code 0x800f0984. Internet searching suggests the error code indicates component folders exist but component installer files are missing.
This issue kinds of seems like it is going to be: hold our breath and hope for an eventual fix. If components are missing, there isn't much we can do about that. I am going to pause updates for a few weeks so that my computer doesn't waste bandwidth trying the install repeatedly.
- whiteboyjohnCopper ContributorHey everyone, I was the one who was going to reset windows based on the recommendation of a Microsoft support agent, the problem was not fixed. I wrote the error code I was experiencing in my previous comment for the record. I'm gonna get on microsoft support again later, I don't have high hopes it'll be fixed today but I don't see this harming our computers in the long term. It's not a major update and as far as I know you can install newer updates without installing a previous one. Moreover, we should all just keep being vocal with our problems to microsoft and I believe a fix will be found soon.
