Chrome Google Search by Voice

Windows 10 Home Ver. 21H1. Chrome <Google Search by Voice> has never worked for me so I stopped long time ago. I wanted to try again. When I click on the microphone icon I get this message 'Plesae check your microphone' I've used my KLIM microphone with many other apps in Windows with no problem so I think it's set up properly. Any suggestions? I'd like to post some screen shots to give more reference but it's not possible here. Thanks in advance.
