Can't safely eject
I plugged in my external hard disk and nothing was done except several large files from multiple folders were deleted.
After a while, I was unable to safely eject it from the icon tray.

If you can't get the drive to safely eject or if you see error messages, or if you are concerned about data loss, contact a qualified computer technician or data recovery specialist. Trying to access the drive yourself could make the situation worse. The problem could be with the drive itself, the connection, or a faulty process running on your computer.

Avoid forcefully disconnecting the drive by unplugging it without safe removal, as this can cause data corruption or hardware issues.
