Can't edit PDF. How can I enable editing on a PDF from Windows 10?
Google Drive's built-in Google Docs OCR workflow converts uploaded PDF files into editable text documents. If you know the file's password, you can't edit password protected PDF directly.
This feature automatically performs text recognition on standard uploaded PDF files so they can be edited directly in the browser. However, the security lock on encrypted documents poses a hard limitation, meaning you can't edit password protected PDF unless you remove the password first.
Instructions: Upload the target PDF file to the software. Right-click the uploaded file, select “Open with…,” and then choose Google Docs from the menu. The document will automatically trigger OCR processing to extract text content from the PDF. You can directly modify and revise the extracted text in the document editor. Go to the File menu at the top, select “Download,” choose the PDF format, and export the edited file as a PDF.
This installation-free online workflow enables fast PDF text editing using OCR technology, but it cannot bypass PDF password encryption restrictions to process protected documents.
This method is particularly suitable when you have a stable internet connection and need to edit plain-text PDFs, extract text from scanned PDF files, or quickly revise PDFs online without installing desktop software.
