Can I transfer Photos from PC to iPhone without iTunes?
When you plug your iPhone into a Windows PC using a USB cable, File Explorer will detect the device and show it as "Apple iPhone" under "This PC." However, if you double-click to open it, you will not see your iPhone's internal storage or photo folders the way you would with a USB flash drive.
Instead, Windows treats the iPhone as a portable media player. This means you can only access the DCIM folder—the same folder that appears when you import photos from a digital camera. This folder contains photos and videos you have taken with your iPhone's camera, but it does not give you full access to your synced albums, edited images, or photos saved from other apps.
How to Transfer Photos from PC to iPhone Using File Explorer
To transfer photos from PC to iPhone using Windows File Explorer, you must use a workaround because direct copying into the Photos app is blocked by Apple's design. Here is the only reliable method:
1. Connect your iPhone to your PC using a USB cable. Unlock your iPhone and tap "Trust This Computer" if prompted.
2. Open File Explorer (Windows + E) and navigate to "This PC" > "Apple iPhone" > "Internal Storage" > "DCIM."
3. You will see folders like "100APPLE" containing your existing camera photos. You cannot paste photos directly into these folders—Windows will either show an error or the pasted files will not appear in your Photos app.
4. The actual method: You cannot copy photos from PC to iPhone using File Explorer alone. Instead, you need to use Apple Devices or iCloud for Windows. File Explorer is essentially a one-way street for iPhones—it works well for exporting photos from iPhone to PC, but not for importing photos from PC to iPhone.
