Yes, a USB-C dock can reduce SSD transfer speeds because it shares the host system's limited USB bandwidth among multiple connected peripherals. When multiple high-bandwidth devices like external SSDs, displays, or network adapters are used simultaneously through the same dock, the available bandwidth gets split, which can significantly bottleneck the SSD's sequential transfer rates compared to a direct connection to the laptop.
