Backing up texts from Windows 8 phone onto iPhone 7 or Windows 10 computer
Just moved from a Windows 8 phone to an iPhone 7. I'd like to save my SMS messages on either a new phone, or my Windows 10 laptop.
Also; less important, but is there a way to rescue my old WhatsApp messages from my Windows phone, or are they gone forever? (I don't mind as much about them; the only ones I really want to keep are ones I can get the person in question to send again.)

You can try to download Icloud for desktop and sign in using the apple id and password that you use on your current Apple account... you can also use your webbrowser and sign in (https://www.icloud.com/) and you should be able to back up your messages and view them on there.
