Any good meta data remover I can use on Windows 10?
Clear-document-properties is a viable and completely free metadata removal tool for Windows 10. It handles images, PDFs, and Word documents . However, whether it qualifies as the best meta data remover depends on your specific needs and technical comfort, as several other free and powerful alternatives exist.
This is an open-source tool hosted on GitHub. It provides a graphical interface and supports batch processing for removing EXIF data from images (JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP) and metadata from PDF and Word files (DOCX, DOC) .
Pros:
- Free and Open-Source: No cost, with full community transparency.
- User-Friendly GUI: Features an intuitive graphical interface, which is easier for many users than command-line tools .
- Cross-Platform: It has instructions for Windows and macOS, though the primary focus seems to be on Windows .
- Batch Processing Support: While the current version supports single-file processing, future updates plan to add batch processing .
Cons:
- Requires Python: To run it, you need to have Python 3.7 or higher installed, which adds a layer of complexity for non-technical users .
- No Mention of Audio/Video: The documentation only mentions images, PDFs, and Word documents .
Clear-document-properties is a solid candidate, especially for images and Office documents. But for a broader range of file types or a more polished GUI, tools like metaclean might be a better fit as the best meta data remover for your needs.
