Another KB5048652 update screwup?

All,

chasing solutions....  on 13th Dec 24,  WU installed this KB fix for an issues created by an earlier KB update in Oct '24.    Since then, my Logitech EX110 wireless mulltimedia keyboard hot keys have ceased to function.  Some of these are hard programmed and some are user selectable, and cover various function like volume / mute, calculator, browser, along with programmable F keys that can be set with a secondary action to open progs like word or excel etc.  The loss of functionality isnt a show stopper, but it IS inconvenient.  I, and Logitech, would like to know WTF its done!!

The logitech setpoint software has 3 tabs 1st for mouse, 2nd for keyboard and 3rd for tools.  The 2nd tab, keyboard and/or drivers, refuses or is stopped from loading, hence the loss of the hot keys.  the rest of the "standard" keyboard, as you can see, works fine. Im currently working with Logitech tech support but so far they're stumped, having gone through all the 'usual' L1 solutions,  upgrade the software & switch it off and on etc, was escalated to L2, and hence deleting folders, removing registry entries and deleting specific files DLLs etc, has still brought no resolution.   I can see from looking at the system, the keyboard is running off the Win standard keyboard drivers, not the logitch ones it should be, but despite all the above, multiple installs, uninstalls, registry cleans, and even resorting to installing the original V2a that came with the keyboard, then v6.0, then v6.6 and back to the current 6.9 nothing has sorted it.

Ive seen several others commenting about issues resulting from this KB 'fix' which from what I can find out, the original issue it 'fixed' has little or nothing to do directly with Win 10.  Anyone got any ideas?

Frustrated Phil.

  • Officially, nope.

Unofficially, despite exhausting Logitech tech resources I have inadvertently solved the issue.

I tried the keyboard on another pc, as reqd.  I had to drag the box out and fumble about down the back to unplug it, where it had been connected since the pc was new about 5 years ago.  On restoring the keyboard after determining it was fully functioning, I plugged it into the desktop hub rather than struggling to drag the pc all out again.  Hey presto full functionality instantly restored.

Why simply changing the usb socket used had this result I haven't a clue. its worked flawlessly, untouched for several years until this kb fix but in researching this issue I found several comments about similar odd hardware and assorted failures.  Whether they were usb connected i dont recall or wasn't stated but hey Its worth a try jiggling your usb devices about!!

It looks like this KB5048652 update is messing with your Logitech EX110 multimedia keyboard's hotkeys – that’s a real pain. Hotkeys are supposed to make our lives easier, and when they suddenly stop working, it’s like losing a part of your workflow. I totally get that it’s not a complete showstopper, but it’s definitely inconvenient when you rely on those shortcuts to manage volume or launch programs quickly.

Update the driver or roll back to previous version.

That was about the 3rd thing I tried.

I've had 1st and 2nd line Logitech on it, they've now given up.
