I tried using Python's built-in HTTP server, which turned out to be a simple alternative to a dedicated android file transfer app for mac.

1. Start the server on Android

Install Termux and Python, then navigate to a folder you want to share. For example, to share files in your Downloads folder, run:

cd ~/storage/downloads
python -m http.server 8000

2. Download files on your Mac

Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network, find your Android phone's local IP address, and enter this address in your Mac's browser:

http://192.168.1.25:8000

Replace the example IP address with your phone's actual address. You can then browse the shared folder and download files directly to your Mac.

For anyone looking for an android file transfer app for mac without paying for extra software, this method is a useful alternative if you're comfortable with a few terminal commands.
