All shortcuts in Windows 10 are malfunctioning.

Recently, I noticed that when I open a social media app, the window disappears automatically, but the app continues to run in the background. When I click the shortcut again, it says I’m already logged in, and I have to log out from the mobile app to use it again. Later, I discovered that when I right-click any shortcut and select “Properties,” two windows pop up in succession: one for the application and one for the .exe file. When I close the latter, the system always freezes for a moment, as if File Explorer is restarting. What is causing this, and how can I fix it?

A shell extension is a type of software that adds features to Windows File Explorer, like adding an option to your right-click menu to scan a file with 7-Zip or upload it to Dropbox . They run inside the File Explorer process. If one of these extensions is poorly coded or corrupted, it can cause the exact behavior you're seeing: windows opening incorrectly, delays, and File Explorer crashing and restarting . The fact that closing the related window crashes Explorer strongly suggests the extension is interfering with the Properties dialog box for .exe files.

This is a known glitch where the system might be trying to process the action twice.
