Access to Recycle Bin

Hi,

Lots of comments on-line about Windows Explorer shutting down if asked to open a folder containg lots of files. I've followed the common advice and set the Folder Options as here:

and that seems to work in all cases except one; there'a always an exception isn't there?

I'm ashamed that a sequence of photos (usually backed up to at least 2 devices as well as main PC) has been lost through my own incompetence.

Never fear, I think, there's the Recycle Bin, but opening in in File Explorer lasts for abour 4 or 5 seconds then Explorer closes. I tried a quick click on Restore All but no luck. Is there a way to examine, choose and restore these files?

Grateful for any solution to my self-generated problem.

David

  • You mentioned you've already followed the common advice and set Folder Options. I'm guessing you probably turned off things like "Automatically search for network folders and printers", "Display file size information in folder tips", or maybe even "Launch folder windows in a separate process". That's the standard first-aid kit, and it helps a little.
