A mysterious folder appears and i am afraid to delete it because i don’t know what it does
System Volume Information is a protected Windows folder at the root of a volume. Windows uses it for volume metadata and services such as restore points, shadow-copy information, indexing, and link tracking; its presence is not evidence of malware. It may appear because protected operating-system files became visible, a drive was newly attached or formatted, or Windows initialized services on that volume. Do not delete it, take ownership, or change its permissions. Windows can recreate it, and forced removal can damage restore or volume-management data without space savings. In File Explorer Options > View, restore defaults and enable Hide protected operating system files so it is not shown during normal browsing. If storage usage is the concern, manage restore-point allocation through System Protection or storage controls instead of editing the folder. Verify the name and path exactly; if the folder only resembles this name, run a Defender scan before acting.
