1703->1709 BSOD 0xc00000bb on devices with NVMe SSD's
- Nov 30, 2017This is a known issue. The fix for this will be included in the cumulative update that will be released today at 10am via http://catalog.update.microsoft.com (manually downloaded). It will also be included in the next Patch Tuesday cumulative update. (Ref OS #14207031, 11D)
Microsoft released yesterday a new Update called KB4054517.

Will try this update, hope it will fix the 0xc00000bb error for nVME drives.

Nope KB4054517 (12.12.2017) also didn't work. Got still the Error 0xc00000bb.
I did try it with the normal Win Updater and with the Upgrade Assistent, both got the error.
It really feels like a joke that Microsoft and the Manufacturers didnt patch it already. 1709 was released end of October. Now we have mid December and it's still not fixed...

So... today Samsung released a new firmware for 960 Pro (4B6QCXP7).
Obviously, on my MSI X99A Workstation, no way to install the FCU. Same error, again and again. I can write a film or a tv serie about this... and MSI doesn't have a new bios/beta bios for my mobo. Thank you...

Hello,
i use samsung magican, but for me, there is no new firmware for the samsung NVMe 960 SSD.
is still the same old one 3B7QCXE7. how do you get the new one??
and today is the last day of january, and MS told all the time, end of january you get a patch.
i think we never get help from MS, MSI or Samsung.
what a story....

We are continuing to work on it. A few points:
- The December update does not include a fix for this problem. We are hoping to have a fix in place by the end of January.
- The updated Asus firmware (1004) has addressed the issue for many people.
- There is a block in place that keeps Windows Update from offering Windows 10 1709 to affected systems. But if you go into Settings and manually check for updates, this bypasses the block because you are "seeking" the update.
Thanks,
-Michael
- Paul MitchellMar 02, 2018Copper ContributorHello Michael,
Is there any update on this?
I have 1703 factory installed, but have been unable to update to 1709 since 3rd November (Windows update has tried 60+ times to update unsuccessfully). I would not wish to go through this with every six-monthly update.
I had hidden the update using wushowhide a week ago, but today, Microsoft appears to have installed Windows 10 Update Assistant and has since downloaded the update three times and failed to install three times - all this in one afternoon. This is wasting time and resources - now trying to work out how to stop this download process.
Intel Core i7-7820X, Gigabyte GA-X299-UD4 Motherboard, 500GB Samsung 960 EVO M.2 PCIe SSD.
