Track App usage in Windows
A customer looks to reduce app sprawl (not monitoring staff) and so wants to log applications used on Windows (domain-joined only) across the enterprise.
What methods would you recommend?

Hello Karl,
You can consider using Software inventory in Defender Vulnerability Management.
It doesn't show how much time people spend using those apps, but can show the list of apps installed on each workstation.
- Thank you, I have considered this, drawback is that the customer has no Defender licensing yet and needs more specific information who is starting those apps, their CMDB already know all existing ones and versions.
- If the customer uses ConfigMgr, you can use Software Metering to report on app usage:
