Yes you can. Assuming are licensed and using Teams today, you will need to clear any of the MSRTC attributes that are located on your onprem AD environment. Using option 2 will change your users to Pure Teams Online users. Carefully plan this and make sure you back up users phone numbers if you are also using Teams Voice as this process will require you to re-establish users' phone number in Teams. If you are not using Teams PSTN voice then this will not be an issue for you. You need to plan for a maintenance window to do this overnight or on a weekend.
